Project Overview
North East Water's Stevenson Street watermain replacement project in West Wodonga will replace an existing watermain with approximately 400 metres of new 300mm pipe below the street surface. The watermain is vital infrastructure to ensure we can continue to deliver safe and reliable drinking water. Works require trenching and horizontal directional drilling with some interruptions to water supply.
The upgrade is expected to be completed by September 2026.
What to expect during construction
At times, there will be short periods where the water supply will be shut off to complete the works. Residents will be notified ahead of time of any planned interruptions.
Traffic management will be in place for safety reasons. Construction will be tailored to minimise disruption to traffic flows. It is advised to seek an alternate route and avoid Stevenson Street to avoid delays.
Nearby residents may also notice:
- Heavy vehicles moving to and from the construction site and on local roads
- Noise from construction activities during certain periods
- Dust may be produced during excavation works.
