Project information

North East Water is carrying out maintenance works on the winter storage dam wall at the Tallangatta Wastewater Treatment Plant to ensure it continues to operate safely and reliably.

To support these works, treated recycled water will be temporarily released from a lagoon at the treatment plant into Washaway Creek under an EPA‑approved Section 157 permit.

The release is planned and closely managed, and it poses low risk to human health and the environment. Contact with the water should be avoided.

During the works, the community may notice maintenance activities and construction crews on site.

The overall maintenance program is expected to take around two to three months, depending on weather and site conditions.
