Township master planning

North East Water’s Regional Master Planning Program is a strategic initiative designed to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of our drinking water and wastewater services. The Regional Master Planning Program plans for our future infrastructure needs that will support our vision of a healthy environment, thriving communities, and a prosperous region by:

• Providing safe, clean drinking water and reliable wastewater services with minimal environmental impact
• Supporting community wellbeing and liveability
• Enabling sustainable and balanced regional growth.

The program provides a long-term plan for water and wastewater services for towns experiencing growth across the north-east region. Each plan details current system performance, forecasts future demand, identifies investment priorities, and outlines clear implementation pathways.

Information on the expected location and timing of key water and wastewater infrastructure over the 2026 - 31 price period (PS5) and the availability of new connections to our systems, for the main growth areas in our region, is covered in our Growth Servicing Plan.

Engagement

Engagement focused on an inclusive and transparent approach. We value community consultation and inclusivity to inform our project decision-making. North East Water adopts a customer and community-centred approach by consulting our customers, regulatory stakeholders, local councils, land developer’s, region’s leaders and First Nations peoples. Development of the Township Master Plan also included consultation with the relevant shire council and discussions with the major trade waste customers.
