Project Overview

Wodonga is experiencing unprecedented growth. Its population forecast to double by 2060 and the Leneva Valley has been identified as a key area for residential and community development on the city’s rural outskirts. To support this growth, the capacity of both the Baranduda Sewer Pump Station (SPS) and Middle Creek SPS need to be increased.

Currently, wastewater is collected at the Baranduda WWTP and pumped to Middle Creek SPS, before transferring to the Wodonga gravity reticulation system, eventually ending up the West Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Next Steps

To achieve the project objectives, modifications will be required to the existing pipework system between the SPSs, including the installation of new pumps and electrical switchboards at the site locations These works will require the isolation of pump stations at key intervals, requiring a diversion to the normal flow management to be implemented.

North East Water have engaged an experienced contractor to deliver the associated works and are actively managing the impact of any necessary diversions.

What to expect during construction

During the diversion period, you may notice increased odour and noise levels in the facility of Baranduda WWTP SPS and Middle Creek SPS. Both noise and odour level will continually be monitored during these periods by North East Water. We appreciate the impact of increased noise and odour level has on the environment and the public and are implementing the appropriate controls to minimise those impacts.
